Trapped 2

I’ve been trapped here now
And though I’ve struggled to get out
I’ll remain within for weeks,
Trying hard to speak
But simple words will not come out,
I long them to shout;
The emotion is good,
It’s just there’s no force left that could.

I can hear them outside (pacing around)
As if they think I’ve died (sniff the ground)
And the airway run stale (how did it fail?)
And to think, you would fall for nothing at all
A ghost, a shower, a shipwreck, a hull
That’s hollow and cracked; yet still
Mountains move overhead,
And beneath I push with all the strength left.

Outside I hear them pacing around
And pawing the ground.

hi how are you?
I really like this latest batch of work, especially this one 'trapped', it seems a very desolate piece.
I think autumn is a very evocative time of year, it's the death of everything before the regeneration of spring. Beautiful yet quite sad in elements.

Hi, thanks for the feedback! Glad you like Trapped, personally I was worried it was a little.. rushed. Glad you don't think so :)

The autumn is my favourite season.. long walks in the countryside. And feeling cold.

hi again, sometimes the things we think are rushed have that edge of rawness that often shines through.
yeah, autumn is lovely, i love the smells of autumn, if that doesn't sound weird!

Hi, im loving what i´m reading. Your sensibility is wonderful and the simplicity of your words really touch me, keep writing.
Just a curiosity, do you study something? Have a job? What do you do beyond write?

Neon - I know exactly what you mean. Where I am at the moment is full of wind and wet leaves, the sound of air in the trees. It's beautiful - the sights, smells, sounds.. the feel of wet bark and walking through a pile of leaves... :)

André - Thanks for your kind words :) I'm a 3rd year student of English and Philosophy. My particular fields of study are Virginia Woolf and Metaphysics. I also work at a zoo in the holidays and when I get time. The whole thing with zoos... I don't agree with them really, but I do think they're a necessary evil. They are essential to the conservation of many species of animals and provide an important educational role. Until we stop destroying the natural habitat of these wonderful creatures we need to make sure we're doing anything we can to move towards a possible reintroduction someday.

Woah, bit of a rant there. I just wanted to make my position clear before I put this up on the internet ;)

I like Virginia Woolf, but of her I just read Mrs. Dalloway. So you do study Metaphysics, interesting. Do you know a portuguese author named Fernando Pessoa? If don´t, read him when you have time, you really will enjoy. There are translates into english, I think. Keep publishing your work here :)

i do feel I am more inspired by autumn than any other time. I have a wee batch to post on my blog of my autumnal ramblings, mist, mellow fruitfulness and all that!
English and metaphysics, hefty! I thought my law was gruelling fare! I prefer to keep the writing side of me to a more personal level, i can't abide the over dissection of writng I think it steals its essence, its all about escape and relaying experience and emotion and to reduce it to a clinical level seems sad to me......Rant rant rant!
The zoo, it is what it is, good old whipsnade and friends certainly breed a varied response but if the greater good prevails then there is a kind of justification there.
